Weighing in on the Paul Pasqualoni Hiring

Two quick words: Hate it!  Not that Pasqualoni isn’t a decent coach — he was okay at Syracuse, though it seemed like he led the team on a slow decline after taking over for Don MacPherson.

My real issue is that there’s no upside — at best, the Huskies seem to be treading water, and Pasqualoni is what, 62?  I suppose he could coach for another 25 years, a la Joe Paterno, but my guess is he coaches for about 5-6 years and hangs it up.  I really wanted to see the Huskies grab a young, dynamic, up-and-coming coach, and this isn’t him.  I wasn’t really in favor of Mike Leach, or Rich Rodriguez, or even Mark Whipple for that matter — I’m not sure I even knew a candidate, other than K.C. Keeler from Delaware — but Pasqualoni wouldn’t have been anywhere near my list.
