UConn Men defeat Coppin State

The UConn Men, returning from final’s break, held on to defeat Coppin State by a final score of 76-64.

It was not a great performance by the Huskies — they got out a a significant lead then let Coppin State back in the game.  They were lackadaisical in most phases — though they dominated the boards, 55-23.

Perhaps the most significant aspect to the game was the first appearance of German freshman Enosch Wolf, who joined the Huskies at the semester break.  Wolf scored 4 points in limited action.  How new is Wolf?  Despite scoring 4 points, he doesn’t even show up in the box score.

Charles Okwandu had what was probably the best game of his disappointing career, scoring 9 points, along with 7 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.  The 9 points nearly matched his 10 point explosion in a game last season.  How disappointing has Okwandu been? The 9 points tonight are nearly 20% of the total points scored in his career.  He raised his career average to just under a point per game.
